Benefits of Massage

There are many people who have gone their whole life without receiving a massage. I myself probably never would have become a Massage Therapist if I hadn’t been lucky enough to have a friend who was going to school for it and who wanted to practice on me. Now that I know how good it is for your body to get regular massage, I know I could never go the rest of my life without getting (or giving) one. There’s just so many benefits! If you are new to massage, I have put together a Before, During and After you session so that you can be as well-informed as possible.

Before Your Session

If this is your first time at Mindful Touch, LMT, please allow 10-15 minutes before your session to find my office and fill out some paperwork. Depending on the length of your session you may want to use the restroom before we get started as well. I will always take a few minutes to do a briefing before each session where you can talk to me about any discomfort or pain you have been feeling lately, or any questions you may have.

When you arrive, please text or call to let me know and I will meet you at the door so that you don’t have to knock or touch the door handle. Once you have filled out paperwork, I will guide you to the massage room where you can brief me on any health issues you may have or physical discomfort you have been feeling. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. If it is your first time getting a massage I will walk you through how the table is set up and used before we begin.

Once we are ready, I will leave you in privacy to undress to your level of comfort, then you will slide onto the massage table underneath the sheet and blanket. I will knock before checking to see if you are settled. I can make any necessary adjustments regarding the temperature or comfort of the massage table.

During Your Session

After knocking, I will enter the room and close the door. I will check in with you about the comfort of the massage table and temperature. Your session begins when my hands make contact, so if you book a 60 minute session, that full hour is being used towards your massage. Once your session starts, I may ask you if you are comfortable or if I need to adjust my pressure.

Open communication is very important! Feel free to let me know if you need me to adjust pressure, aromatherapy, temperature, music, or anything that would help you feel more comfortable. Everyone is different and some people like only a little pressure, while others like more. Your feedback will help me optimize your massage and customize it to your needs so that you can get the most out of your session. Depending on the type of therapy you choose, I will use a variety of strokes and techniques to help loosen muscular tension and ease discomfort.

After Your Session

As we end your session, I will leave the massage room and close the door. Feel free to allow yourself a few minutes to reorient yourself and get redressed. When you are ready, meet me out in the reception area where I will ask you how you are feeling after your massage. Please allow 10-15 minutes from the end of your session to leaving in order to take care of any payments or scheduling that is needed.
